I remember

An incident of years ago.
When my daughter Faun was five.
We had a cat named Cyrano.
The cat it seemed died alive.

The day after he passed away.
My daughter sat with a friend.
It seems to me like yesterday.
They whispered about his end.

It's something that I overheard,
Whispering, she softly said,
In halting murmurs came the words.
"My cat, my cat, woke up dead."

Did this really happen? Out of the mouths of babes-they can come up with some real gems. I hope that's what you were talking about?

But with autumn leaf she perish'd, long time ago..."
