It was new spring
and the leaves which remained from the falling time
joined up and were having at their last dance
invited by the wind, they had quickly accepted
and dervished with abandonment,
color-faded but remembering,
thin,homeless tramps,
the crackly old withering things,
ancient corps-de-ballet,
spinning and circling,
in the fourth act finale-
chasse' et jete',en masse-
just before they would all disappear,
going to someplace hidden,
dissolving there...
Yet they did have their legacies, each one,
as witnessed by the masses of the season grasses
and the lingering yet melting snows,
all to soon meet their stars,
mingling with them in the afterglow-
behind the curtain
