MIASMA The air tonight is crackling, alive it's moist to the skin, imparting a sheen but nothing compares to the glow inside of what this place, this night, may come to mean. A miasma of longing settles into my core playing tricks on my eyes, scattering thoughts through my brain; No sooner does sleep come and and there it is, once more: a vision of you standing out in the rain; beckoning me softly to come to you again. For you have I come here; for this reason alone-- Where we part, the night reigns, Where we meet, I am home. I have waited so long that at length, I forget; but I leave unto Heaven my fear and regret. Feelings new to this heart Sublime, and yet, no; they are thus set apart and they ebb, and then flow. I want no control, I want to give in; so strong, such desire, so cleansed by this sin. Which star I wished on blessed me? for what reason do I know this Heaven, clothed by you in the hell of here, below? Life continues on as normal; quarks still dance in their subatomic spin; sun rises, sets, the Dog Star shines But the Man in the Moon now wears a grin. I saw it last night, I'm not lying!- So-- don't believe your eyes? Just keep them wide open as he begins his rise and at dawn, when he sleeps, he begins his demise, but long nights, when forthcoming you shall see his surprise. How your kiss does envelope, how your arms, do they hold; how your spirit shines, breathless, a hundred sighs thus unfold! Such impetuous acts and secret delights-- intoxicating, they spin in my head, Fantasies break fast in these summer nights and turn forever in their diamond bed. Before, the heartless tender of my world felt this soul moved with profound ire Where once was pierced deep by his rendering wound There is now such redemption in all colors of desire. - July 1999 |
