Forever "I-do's" Such a long time ago, Two people so young Not much did they know. Not knowing bout life An less about marriage, Soon brought home a son In a new lil' carriage. Lil' more than a year Their daughter was born, And life was a mess Their marriage was torn. Drugs had took over And alcohol too, Arguements errupted The beatings, they grew. A cold day in April Came girl number two, That warmed up your heart When she smiled at you. Then one hurtful night Her face black and blue, She said I've had it I'm finished with you! She gathered the kids And went out the door, Said I am leaving You love me no more. He then made a call That changed his whole life, Went into rehab To get back his wife. Though he was sober, Didn't think it would stay. Would things get better, And go the right way? Though they did struggle In life, these young two, They have been given A way that is new. They grew in knowledge Not gained in a day, When they gave up their lives And let God show the way. I want to say here that this just started out as words. Words that were just coming to me and ended up being of my life. It has brought back tears and sadness. This went on for about 6 years. Though I am thankful to God for where we are today! I guess it was His time of bringing it out! The day I stood up for myself I became stronger. This was a little over 9 yrs ago when God replaced the drugs and alcohol. I am very thankful for what he has done in my husbands life, he is a different person! We both are. [This message has been edited by WhtDove (edited 09-10-99).] |

WhtDove: I'm glad he made that call! Even more glad you stood up for yourself and your children and realized your strength... I'm sure that's something he's respected through the years. |

Hoot and Suthern, thank you! Thanks for letting me share. It doesn't seem to be as heart wrenching reading it, as it felt when I remembered and wrote it. Balladeer those words are heartfelt! Thank you buddy! |

Hey Dove, It's me the FREAK, and I just wanted you to know that it takes more strength and courage to go back into something that has the potential to be disatrous, while trusting God to bring about his glorious, miraculous working power and changing the hearts of those that seem to be hideous into something beautiful. Thus, keeping your family together and not letting them become another statistic. You seem to be the glue if what your poem states is true. Every family has that one person. The one who holds everyone together. Well at least one. Keep the faith and maintain your courage. Josh 1:8 Jfreak |

I'm pleased you both had the strength and commitment to see things through...it took courage to leave and courage to trust again but your partner also showed courage with his ultimate actions...bless you! I'm glad you decided to walk out WhtDove, he probably wouldn't have made that call, anyway, so glad that it has worked out for you ------------------ What comes from the heart goes to the heart. Samuel Coleridge |

WhtDove, this is fantastic! Very well done and great message. I'm glad your situation turned out as it did. Mine did not. I had faith, I had courage, I did all the right things, I forgave and tried again and again and again. I believe both partners have to be on the same page. If one is not willing to be what God wants them to be it won't work. I'm glad yours did. I'm glad I got out alive. My faith was questioned by some - but that's their problem! Again, very lovely poem! It's one of my favorites! ------------------ Denise |

Jfreak, Rainbow girl, D.A., moonmoon, I thank you very much for caring! D-It takes a lot to go through a situation like that. Especially with an alcoholic, they tend not to quit or admit a problem until they lose something that is very dear to them. Some it is homes or jobs, money! I really didn't think I mattered enough. I know it wasn't done for the right reasons in the beginning. But what has come out in the end is only by the grace of God. I know I am fortunate, for I have seen many go through this, and many of those go back to what they know. Alcohol and drugs. I give you the utmost credit for all the trying you did. We have to realize that we cannot change that person! That change has to come from that person, they have to want it. I'm glad you came out alive too! I am sorry that it didn't work for you, but that was the best thing that probably ever happened to you! You can move on and find someone who will treat you right! And you deserve that! Thank you for your compliment and God Bless you, and direct your paths!!! |

Thank you WhtDove. This was a chapter from my past. I have been remarried for ten years now. The difference is like day and night. I have been blessed more than I could ever have imagined! Thanks again and God bless you too! ------------------ Denise |

Three cheers for your courage. Though not religious, I think God a good substitute for alcohol and violence |

Quite a grim picture is painted by this work at first and though only God knows where this poem will end, I think that indeed a Family Has Made It. Well worth the read. ------------------ Pain is life, life is short, I will endure. DreamEvil© |

Thank you Michael! This is one of those things I guess, that you must go through the hurt before you can know the joy! God has certainly worked in our lives! |

I am glad it is over with, Dove, and that it all worked out! Nail to the mast her holy flag, Set every threadbare sail- And give her to the god of storms, The lightning and the gale! -Oliver Wendell Holmes |
