As the drum beats quicken
The time draws near.
My bowels tighten
And I taste fear.
A gallery of faces
Prepare to watch the show.
A glance around
Tells me what they know.
A surge of rage
From the depths of my soul -
I took charge of my life,
Now I've lost control!
Would it help to beg?
If so, I will plead!
Before I am finished,
There's so much I need.
One more night to wonder
What the next day brings,
One more crisp fall sky,
Another breath of spring,
One more song of love,
One more passionate night,
Another morning
In the sun's first light.
Pain fades to numbness,
But I long to feel!
Darkness in daytime -
Death is real.
A betrayal of time
And I pay the cost
While old age whimpers
For a victim lost.

You've got talent to spare, Suthern!

(except, of course, in your choice of men, and I use that word loosely)

Tori and Balladeer: Thank you for your kind words...

As for my choice of men, 'Deer... that's closer to sheer genius than talent! (Although he's both... genius AND talent! LOL)

I am just going to echo Dixie here, "Wow, suthern, wow."  That sums it up for me.
