Lord, I don't understand why,
These times I sit depressed and cry.
I try to remember things could be worse,
That life is a gift and not a curse.
When I look around the world I see,
The beauty you've planted for you and me.
The Lord has given us two hands to hold,
Those who feel left out down and cold.
We have two legs to carry us through,
All the troubles that befall me and you.
Two eyes to see the beauty all around,
The Good Lord has planted for us in the ground.
Two ears to hear the truth and sounds,
Of all the wonders in His creatures around.
We all need to take a moment to look,
At all the splendor in one little brook.
The drop of rain on a single red rose,
The beauty of snow, when the ground is froze.
Stop! Take a look up in the sky,
Did you see the sunset or did it pass by?
God said, I am like the evergreen tree,
It's leaves never failing, everlasting like me.
We all need to stop and look around,
Take notice of God's love that abounds.
The love for His creation, in which He took care,
To place each and every-one of us here.
He's gently reminding us as we look around,
In everything you see MY love can be found.
So Lord, I don't understand why,
These times I sit depressed and cry.

Whtdove....there is much truth to this piece. We have been given so much, yet at times we fail to see these things as gifts.
Sometimes with those two eyes we see murder, crime, sadness.
Sometimes with those two ears we hear slurs, taunts, slanders and lies.
Sometimes those two legs fail us and we run away when we should stay or stay when we should have ran.
Sometimes that one heart betrays us by caring for someone who cares not for us. Yes, we have been given these gifts, but sometimes they are like trojin horses, bringing us grief with the good times. Thank God that we have also been given the strength to endure all things and the courage to go on.

Thank you hoot_owl. That was quite interesting and truthful. You are so right! Tho' I wrote this a while back when I was depressed, trying to count my blessings, they were hard to see at the time.

A reminder here for us all. Also, a commentary on our emotions that cloud our vision at times. Beautiful!

Much thanks to you dsnyder! Depression clouds lots of things! Those were just the basic things I took for granted! And probably still do!

I really felt all the pain but also all the joy that could be found in this. It makes me stop and count all of my blessings.

I've learnt that if God hadn't given us sadness we wouldn't feel it. You already know to give it to Him. Also - how much more you appreciate the beauty of the world when you are sad - it's like a gift to awaken to. We all get sad WhiteDove. (Love the poem, of course!)

Wild Child I am glad it touched you. Thank you! Sometimes we need a reminder to count our blessings! Glad it helped.

Thank you Severn! But it is through sadness that we learn joy. Without the one, we can't have the other.

This is lovely...we often forget that there is so much beauty around us and so much to be happy about. It is a challenge amist pain and suffering!!

Thank You!!

a very beautiful piece of art from the heart. you have a gift that is truly great and i am blessed that you would choose to share it with me, yet it is sad that once i get busy all these moments will be lost in time like tears in the rain until called upon again with reminders from beautiful people like you
Again thank you!

Tyke I am floored by such a response! And deeply touched by it! Thank you so much. I think we read and are touched, then get lost into the problems of life again. I'm honored that it could bring back a rememberance for you, or anyone else! `Tis a reminder for me also! Again Thank YOU so much!

WhtDve, this is truly a beautiful poem
I don't know why we do that either, but like you said through sadness we learn Joy, and when we feel Joy, we are reminded of all the beauty around us. Thank you so much for sharing this with us
