Once Upon a Promise

Once blessed
By love bestowed
Souls possessed
On destined road

Time passed
And longing grew
Passion vast
Shared by two

Still untouched
Without a face
Fear clutched
At hope's embrace

Once belonged
To you alone
Treasured heart
Is now disowned

Disquietude reigned
On sanguine day
Sad reality
Came to stay

Promises died
In pain prolonged
Heart abandoned
That once belonged
