A Land Before Thyme Once upon a grain of time There was a sacred place Where some of the strangest creatures lived I looked upon their face You have to understand my plight For I am a stranger here Watching the creatures romp and play Makes me feel quite queer Amoung these strange, fun creatures There is a Balladeer He seems to be quite gentle Is there something I should fear? He has two arms and legs I think Eyes, a nose, a face His shape is fuzzy, yes indeed It's strange around this place Sheep I clearly heard about His favorite I believe The depth of this I do not know Difficult to perceive Another of these strange creatures Is something very weird He faced a difficult challenge and everybody cheered He has a very familiar shape And 10 very fine didgets He wears a ragged mishappen cloth Made by the hands of midgets Toerag, I'm sure I heard him called In a jovial fit of laughter Engaged to a merman, so it's told To live forever after Andrew is another one I've seen Floating around this place He seems to try and hold himself With style form and grace But be forewarned in this place Nothing is what it seems For in a dusty, little town He shattered women's dreams Another one to watch for Another accessory to the line Another one to watch for Is a poet called deVine She really is quite cleaver Her words do always fit To engage her in a word war Would be a piece of shit I know I'd loose quite readily And so I must refrain From raising any eyebrows in this very quaint domain What I'm trying to tell you What I'm, trying to say Thankyou for this special place I found that fateful day |

Wonderful job Marilyn. Want a challenge? Use 'yearning' in a free verse poem..ie. that doesn't have to rhyme. I surprised myself doing 'clouds' from Hawkwings' challenge. Go for it..if you want to that is. ------------------ A hero is a man who does what he can. ~Isis~ (The Fragile Rose) |

Wild Child.....Thankyou. I wanted to take part in the humor I have read here. Pepper...It is a wonderful place. Isis...Thankyou and I will take on that challenge! I will try my best. Balladeer....I didn't know Toe liked fruit. Thanks for the information and the "one of us" comment. I am flattered. WhtDove....I just wanted to acknowledge my lighthearted side. I have done all serious pieces. It was a challenge for myself as well. Robert...I hear you there. I think I will make this place home...for a while at least...LOL. |

Most excellent Lady Marilyn! I thank you for the inclusion. Style and Grace... yep! That's me...Trust me when I say that killing Toe was no great loss. If fact, I consider it one of the greatest humanitarian efforts of this century. Again, I bow to you and your fine effort. Welcome to the gang. PS: If you don't mind a little bit of self promotion and would like a good laugh, look back a few pages for "Target Toerag" by yours truly. Happy days! |

OH, I forgot to ask you, Marilyn. Does the title, "A Land Before Thyme" mean that this place actually existed before I came here? I mean... it's Thyme we cleared this up. Thyme after Thyme, people tell me my Thyming sucks, so if I missed some laughs and good Thymes, I wouldn't really doubt it. I just thought that the old saying "from the beginning of Thyme" meant that nothing was there before I got there.... oh, never mind. That's just some existentialist Thyme theory maybe. Whatever. Well, forgot to tell you, welcome to the forums. It's about Thyme you got here! |

Justin I have to tell you I simply adore you! Will you marry me?? LOL. Your bother could be the best man. I'll ask Denise if she will be my maid of honor. I always wanted to be Marilyn Thyme. That way I'd never be late! [This message has been edited by Marilyn (edited 09-30-1999).] |
