The Lament of Adah and Zilah between Lamech and Lethe To the dark places where misery resides, in whose covert dungeons despair hides awaiting another, to be born to this fate, unable her misfortunate gloom to abate, to the horrors of centuries piled on the other, begging each minute, that death would cover time's final distance posthaste, memory erase of life's existence, each day and place, no trace, "Lethean shores", Adah and Zilah decry, " this pace too slow! Cain avenged seven times, what grace allots Lamech, seventy-seven, so wives he chains to his side will endure the more his bloody stains?" --BGvH 'Women of the Word' Poems From the Goober Tree http://nathoo.wustl.edu/goober_tree.htm |
