i'm glad i knew you before i knew love i'm glad someone taught me to hold hands to kiss to whisper soft sweet words before the grande finale it's comforting to know it was only practice and you were a good teacher i learned to share and to hurt and try and now i don't understand you see i'm glad you aren't the one for me though i feel so strange because he doesn't hurt me nothing like you dear and i wouldn't change a thing you still don't listen when i pour my heart out i can't break through to you i'm not on your level but when you hug me sometimes i'm glad i was broken in by you my love was once a fiery and passionate thing it could've scorched his heart but it spent its flame on you and with its own tears promptly extinguished itself now my love is soft and carefully worn in it may seem so old and tired but my heart is happy in his arms i know no other place i answer to no other voice i'm content to have learned to love by you and i thank you everyday because of the time i spent with you i suddenly realized that you are not the one ------------------ "Come night, come darkness, for you cannot come too soon or stay too long in such a place as this." Beautifully written...sometimes we only put people into the empty spaces of our lives for want of something better to fill the space....the challange is figuring that out in time to find the one who really fits ------------------ Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints in our heart and we are never ever the same. Thank you all for leaving footprints!! |
