Once An Angel

She was once an angel,
Now, fallen, by choice.
She sings to me in the night,
And holds me with her voice.
She dances across my skies,
I feel her essence in the air
While deep inside, my soul still cries,
To know she's really there.

I hold her in a vision,
But I long to touch her skin.
I'll gladly pay the price of heaven,
If loving her is a sin.
Grounded in flights of fancy,
Along eternity's shore -
Sweet elegance, my dream in dance,
An Angel, evermore.

------------------
Michael Anderson

And so, being young and dipt in folly
I fell in love with melancholy,
But dreams - of those who dream as I,
Aspiringly, are damned, and die:

Michael,

Lovely this is, if it's about Lilith? I read the comments under Brother Cain and saw Lilith mentioned. A very bright insight into the mind of Adam for all the controversy that Lilith creates.

Does seem reminiscent of Lilith as well as a few less supernatural females I know. I think this piece actually applies to many women, though few might agree.

Wont bother with the obvious and repetitive comments about it being excellent work, by now I'm sure you know the quality of your work.

It's a rare individual who will hold a fallen angel.

Well done, Sir.

I love all the different perspectives this poem has drawn.

Artur & Lucie, though this may have been inspired subconsciously by the Lilith story,
I think Dream and Iloveit see more the way I intended it.....An angel fallen to earth to share my love.....a very special fellow poet on this board.

Thank you all for your comments.
Repetitive or not, they are all well recieved.

I know a guy who fell in love with an angel. His heart got broke time and time again. Yet he tells me it was worth every tear.
*sigh* Gorgeous poem!

To hold an angel,
a prize well sought,
a mystery made,
a beautiful thought.
But angels will be
what angels are,
what once was near
I fear is far.
To hold an angel,
a priceless dream.
I once had an angel,
until she spread her wings.

Glorious, touching. I seek what you have found and I once lost. Hold tight to your love, for angels will be what angels are.

DarkKnight

An angel, indeed, came to you.
In heart, in soul, in mind.
She shared with you her love so true,
And love still there, you'll find.
The stars are gleaming o'er you tonight,
Don't close you eyes just when -
Your angel's love is shining so bright,
What once was will be again.

Your response means much, thank you and best of luck.

Michael
