Fox News Yes, it is important that we find weapons of mass destruction in Iraqi. To find them determines the credibility of our President, the CIA and ultimately the United States. If no weapons are found it will definately affect the 2004 Presidental elections. At this point it appears as if the President lied to us or the CIA misinformed or lied to him. However, I do think it is important to capture or kill Saddam before we can make any final conclusions. I believe that many Iraqi's still live in fear thinking he might come back into power. When the fear factor is gone I believe that Iraqi leaders, technicians and citizens will come forth with valuable information concerning the presence or absence, or the destruction of weapons of mass destruction. Meanwhile the President needs to deal with the credibility of his office and the CIA. We need to be able to trust the President. So what is the truth. If Iraq has these weapons where are they? Were they destroyed before the war? Were they moved to a neighboring country such as Iran? Why did the CIA seem to know everything before the war and now seems to know nothing? People need to be held accountable. If these weapons exist why doesn't the CIA identify the locations and reveal the weapons. And if they don't exist perhaps we need new leadership in the CIA. Someone we can trust to produce a product when they say it exists? I like President Bush but unless these issues are resolved in the near future I will not be able to vote for him. Interesting my thoughts some years ago...I was caught up in the rhetoric, and now I consider the Iraq war a mistake, because it spread our military too thin, and took the focus away from pursuing bin Laden... Those that study History know that Hitler spread himself too thin, pursuing a war on two fronts and resulting in his eventual downfall. In retrospect I think the President was rapidly losing support in 2004 and the main reason he won re-election was not his popularity as much as it was Kerrys unpopularity...similarily, in election 2008 Obama seems to be gaining many votes due to Hillarys unpopularity...James |
