she'd been working very hard for no pay... in fact, one could say that she was paying to work, and then getting graded on it. near the end, after stress had crawled in, plumped it's pillow, and made itself at home within her, she noticed she'd been a bit shrewish, though she apologized to him... she was always apologizing, it seemed. 'when it's over...', she told herself, and him. then came the long awaited day, a celebration that night, she smiled easily, feeling relaxed, able to let go, they snuggled, kissed... back to reality in the morning, a shopping trip, he was trying to help... he put a pack of toilet paper atop the groceries. 'Don't ya know that's the stuff they use in gas stations and restaurants?, she posed sarcastically. he put it back on the shelf... 'I'll be in the car', he said as he walked away, and as she watched, the tears just rolled down her cheeks, she could not control them, and they picked up speed and volume. with head lowered, she ran to the car, murmured, 'home, please', and she cried all the way, once there, the tears flowed harder (it was safe), he hugged her, questioning, 'Is this all over toilet paper?' between sobs, she mumbled, 'I don't know', and she cried for two hours, till the tears came slower and slower, more time between each sob, then she just stopped, went to him, wrapped her arms around him, saying once more, 'I'm sorry. I'll try not to snap anymore.' but this time it felt different... it felt like she could, and would, do it. Is this about Brad's wife? Or maybe I have also been there. More later, no time now. Pete |
