How unfair the responsibility life places upon society or are they the responsibilities society has placed in our lives? nevertheless, the countless hours spent at the nine to five commanding our attention in return for a title and the coveted American dollar and all the while my wife and child grow older a day closer to death how morbid and bitter I must sound but in my searching I have not found neither rhyme nor reason in conducting a poem written about life sure there is love sure there are memories found in moments Saturdays and vacations given annual holidays still which I covet but a million times more I would rather in return share a meal or even just a snack in the school yard playground with my very own on a Wednesday afternoon but these times traded instead for working lunches and needless yet necessary lines with fellow associates also walking like living dead or were they called deadlines which greater established corporate identities nevertheless, having no real relevance and now as a bearded old man bearing the title of grandfather man I wonder where the years have gone left only or rather left with shared memories I will forever treasure or however long forever may last in the remaining days left in this temple to reminisce how quickly time passes though my words are only ordinary sounds from another old man living in a house built on common ground I regret only moments chosen not worthy to be placed in my time in a bottle time being so very precious tomorrow guaranteed to no one as the Good Book says and only yesterdays left to judge our exchanges for time. |
