       FRENCH PLAYING CARDS
14,000 Things to be Happy About (#37)

The warlike Frenchmen call a "pike"
What peaceful English term a spade.

But wait, the violent name of club
The Frenchman knows as pleasant "clover".

It's not much help that "carreau," square,
Tipped on one corner diamond forms.

But what relief to find "la coeur" --
Let heart be heart the whole world round.

Ted:

Excellent work here.  But don't you mean "prissy English"? *Jim ducks as Philip throws a cup of tea at him*

Seriously, this is very concisely written and with good meter to boot.  Applauds!
