Lost on the streets of Nashville
By Paul Wilson

(A Country Song)

Rain coming down washing away all my misgivings
Bad memories broken dreams and heartache
Tomorrow’s just another day lost on the streets of Nashville
Knocking on doors paying my dues trying to get a break

Singing the songs that touched my life
Singing about drinking heartache and bad luck
Times have changed a new generation on the rise
Country music has taken on a new sound just to make a buck

Nothing seems the same anymore
It’s time to be moving on, reasons I can’t ignore
The last bus leaves at a quarter to four
Packed my bags walked out the door

Rain coming down washing away all my misgivings
Bad memories broken dreams and heartache
Tomorrow’s just another day lost on the streets of Nashville
Knocking on doors paying my dues trying to get a break

Heard about a gig in Texas the money ain’t that bad
All my friends said it’s time to take a stance
Packed rooms on Friday and Saturday nights
Waiting for the door to open wanting to dance

Back in the spotlight headlining the show
me and my band living the dream
Nashville can keep their new country sound
I’ll keep singing about life and the American dream

I’m just another country singer Nashville forgot
Singing my songs on another stage
I’m just another country singer Nashville forgot
Still playing to packed rooms at my old age

I’m just a country singer
With stories left to tell
As far as I care
Nashville can go to hell

lol...the ending surprised me.  You definitely got the sad country song thing down though.  Thank you for digging this out, Paul, you put a smile on my face.

Michael...Glad you got a laugh out of this.
Laughing is always better than crying in your beer.
Thanks for the reply...Paul

John...You don't want to hear me sing I promise you.
Thanks for reading and your reply, just a little bit of acting crazy. Take care...Paul

I'd like to hear music with this. Loved the rhythm and the ending and well, all of it.

Imagining the life of a singer/songwriter on the road.  To think it possible some people actually find a way to make money doing what they love.  Brought me a yearnful smile Paul.
