It seems my inspiration Has left me, high and dry. At one time it seemed endless- It’s gone. I wonder why? Perhaps because I’m older- And some might call me jaded- No matter what the reason- My inspiration faded. I once could write for hours Of places I had been- The fragrance of wildflowers- The whisper of the wind. The girls I left behind me- The lifestyle I had known… Although I can’t explain it- The inspiration’s gone. No sonnets to her beauty- Nor warriors accolades- Like green at coming winter- My inspiration fades. I wrote with vim and vigor- I fear that was back when- Since I lost my inspiration, Might as well lay down my pen. |

And yet the song it lingers, in the back of the mind. Try to close your eyes to it, too often you will find. It’s never drawn of leisure, but more compelled of need. You’ll wake again with pen in hand, a poet has to bleed. |
