Aye, lad, 'tis late, I've miles to go- Ere night 'er shroud doth spread. I fancy grog, an' ingle nook... To rest me weary 'ead. But, aye, I'll drink...'ere's to yer 'ealth! An' now we'll drink to mine- An' lad I'll now propose a toast.... To loves we left behind! 'Tis sad the choices men must make- Aye, oft they cause to weep. Tha' men, they're fools, go off to war, Or to some fortune seek... And bid the lass, "Be off wi' ye! An' break 'er tender 'eart... But rest assured, 'e too will pay.. When sorrow shoots 'er darts. Aye, drink 'er down, I've miles to make- Yer comp'ny's passin' kind... Let's lift one more afore I leave.... To loves we left behind! |

This definitely conveys sorrow and regret, but also quite comradery. Some who are left behind are better left there. Some aren't. I love the way you've written this. I read it out loud for better effect as far as the language goes. "I know this love will tear me to pieces |

Ah, fine words...and brings to mind Willie and Julio's song. I'll have that music in my head all day now! |

"When sorrow shoots 'er darts" She ain't discreet about it either! Dancing with Regret is said to be a foolish, but damn it's a catchy tune, ain't it? |
