Ordinary Day Worn out shoes broken radiator blues the telephone is in league with the television the widow's brand new with the same old view I'm looking at the weather with some derision the record player needs a new needle so my favorite song can't come out to play it's just another ordinary day Love is lost luck of the coin toss just staring as my clothes go round and round late night laundromat toe in a rat trap I'm missing her like a treasure buried underground I can't hold on to one measly buck these holes in my pockets and I've fallen away it's just another ordinary day This day is like any other ain't nothing unusual about this ennui I'd tell you a lot about love brother but the sweet words escape me have I anything left to say on this completely ordinary day Screen door tear so much in need of repair the smell of impending rain is rising up heart full of hollow love is the marrow and my bones sound in tune with my empty cup wish I could remember the tune she was singing in her crooked way it's just another ordinary day This day is like any other and the calendar is lousy with them nothing new to report mother there's no need to ask me again now I watch the time fall away on this completely ordinary day Have I anything left to say as I watch the time fall away on this totally normal utterly typical run of the mill completely ordinary average day no way no way “I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees.” —Pablo Neruda |

This is a delightful disillusionment with the ordinary put into some enjoyable verse and clever rhyming couplets...much enjoyed, soul drifter.Very good summarizing verse at the end! |
