I guess I must be seeking, a temporary love- If indeed, there could be such a thing. I long for the emotion, ephemeral joy- And to avoid the partings painful sting. I long for those “sweet nothings”, to be whispered in my ears The tender touch of gentle hands and lips- Compassion for my folly, to calm my inner fears- And help me with my faults to come to grips. Temporary? Yes, indeed! That is the ideal love- To fill my heart and serve to lift my load… To vanish with a good-bye kiss, like down upon the wind As I load my truck and go on down the road. |
