I sit upon my window seat All snug as a bug in a rug Sun~beams filter in through The skylight of my sunroom Caressing me with toasty warmth I gaze across the ice~bound lake Kissed by fluffy frigid flakes From an early morning snow squall How beautiful it shimmers A glittering diamond dust blanket Across the way nestled in a Patch of pearl tipped pines Cozy cottage chimneys Billow with shades of smokey blue~gray As wisps of wind waltz them up and away As I lookout over the frostbitten shore I watch an old winter warrior bundled up Trudging out to his favorite fishing hole Red plaid jacket and matching cap Adding a bit of cheer to the chill of morn Before to long my quiet reverie will be but a memory As the lake awakens to the hustle and bustle of Snowmobiles, ice~skaters and sledders Fun and laughter will magically fill the air As I smile from my ringside seat At Old Man Winters Wonderland © Poet In Pink |
