I have invited you in
in many ways,
But you will only come
unwittingly by paper.
You listen to my poetry,
your ear tuned to
sounds of yourself.
Sometimes you understand.
As I have told you,
you are a good man
and as such,
will do the right thing
with understanding.
In those times when
I can’t write you
a frame of reference
for something you’ve
never felt,
I wish your emotional
rainbow was bigger
and brighter.
You are not alone
in your discontent.
Others before you
and others yet to come
have and will face
your same challenges.
Each copes as they
are equipped.
I think you came into
this battle unarmed.
All your strengths
that thus far had
served you well,
were not designed
for this kind of fight.
Sitting just feet away,
it feels like miles
and I miss you.

This really tugged at my heart-strings as I read...All you can do is your best Lori Lou, and I believe you are doing that Just keep sharing your beautiful heart and love with him ~ Though we have never met, I can tell thru your writing what a wonderful and compassionate woman you are.
