Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Turns out that that thing on my nose
was malignant after all.
Basal cell carcinoma they call it.
I guess it is the best kind to get
because it is the least aggressive.
They are going to remove it
in slices that they biopsy as they go,
until no cancer cells show up.
They call that having clear margins.
I have no idea how big or deep
they will have to go on my nose
to get all the malignant cells.
I worry about that.
The spot they biopsied
is healing nicely.
I’m afraid it is going to hurt.
The biopsy was uncomfortable
to say the least.
I expect this to be worse.
I wish it was tomorrow.
I have to wait ‘til Monday.
That gives me too many days
to think about it and worry.
The part I’m not worried about
Is the cancer.
I’m sure they will get it all just fine.
I’m hung up on pain and disfigurement.
Both of which my mind has probably overblown.
But when I step back and think about it,
it is really just a minor inconvenience,
in the big scheme of things.
I just need to pull up my big girl panties
and deal with it.

In my opinion, this is right thinking, Miss Lori.

As my dentist used to say when his large face was getting ever larger, "relax, Bluesy, and think pleasant thoughts". I found a simple wisdom in that moment...just before he struck oil.

You're a trooper, Lori Rhoden. You'll get through this fine. It could be worse, you know. You could be pregnant.

Pregnant??!!
OMG, you would just have to take me out and shoot me if that happened. It is bad enough my oldest and youngest are 20 years apart, I don't need to do that again.  ~L

Looked up Basal cell carcinoma, and I was very happy to find out that it was a skin cancer that was very easy to beat. Sorry you have it, but at least you have a very good chance, no and excellent chance, of  beating it.

Yes Jerry, I am not worried about that. They will keep cutting away until they get it all. My concern is how big a hole they are going to make. Are we going to be talking skin grafts? Won't know 'till then. ~L

I'll keep you posted. Oh, by the way, I dropped my laptop last night and broke the screen. Guess I'll be getting a new one. ~L

You can always make up stories about how you got into and won that cat fight.

But seriously, a colleague went thru this nose thing many years ago.  He's doing well.  Hardly missed a step.

Good luck, Lori, it will be good for a few poems we couldn't write.

Pinkynoodle,
Don't worry your pretty head about me, I'll be fine. Just having last minute nerves about the whole business. My inner child is crying "I don't wanna go" lol! I know they will want to check me over for other 'spots' so that means I will have to shave my legs and it isn't even spring yet. ~L
