Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2018-01-11 07:16 AM

3:45 a.m. and the predicted
freezing rain starts pelting the window.
The blowing snow is due at 5:00 a.m.
The thermometer is falling,
three degrees in the last fifteen minutes.
It is supposed to get very cold
with the wind chill taking it to the extreme.
I have no desire to drive on the highway
under these icy conditions.
If the snow is on time,
I’d be driving right into it at 5:45.
The old man says he’ll gladly
take me to work in his new truck.
Even as good as he is,
I’d at least like to wait until daylight
for my white knuckle ride.
As I sit here cozy with my blanket,
listening to the wind creak and groan the house
while pelting the windows with slush;
I impatiently wait for the robo call
saying the school is closed.
I nod off for a bit, then look at the clock.
I’d better get ready, if I’ve got to go.
I have to be there, I’m filling in until 9:00a.m.
Finally they called it!
They waited until almost a quarter to 6:00!
Oh well, no worries!
I just got a 4 day weekend!
Martin Luther King Day is Monday!
And here I sit all dressed and ready to go,
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Well LeeJ they broke the bad news to me. Today is only Thursday. I thought it was Friday. It was a hard blow to take but I'm managing. ~L

For someone who has "a boring life" (I'm not letting go of that!), you sure got a lot going on! With all this time on your hands, how about joining a Mah Jong group?

Long time no read Lori.
Being from Canada I can relate easily.
I too love those cancellations and the unexpected day off. INSIDE where it's cozy and warm.
A lot of this made me smile....

Blusey,
Well my life on 'the go', as in go to sleep, has left little time on my hands. I did get the car out and drive up the street to the neighbor's house to visit. The car wanted to get stuck but I wouldn't let it. ~L

Boo snow...but yay snow day!  Of course I wouldn't know anything about those...I work at a bank and the doors are open come rain, shine, snow, fireballs from the heavens... we're still open.

I think our capacity for wholeheartedness can never be greater than our willingness to be broken-hearted."  Brene Brown
