A princess stood in a seagirt tower, her face so innocent, moon-pale and fair A slight smile kindled softly in her sparkling blue eyes, as she gave him a look for look so rare “A Sleeping Beauty awaiting a kiss”, such sensual thoughts in his mind so ran As he stood on the wharf, rapt by his longings, she so hungers for her conquering man But fate's fickle thumb shown a downward turn, and he knew his lustful days were done The ship with her lover now having returned, he realized she'd played his heart just for fun Now, the good times have gone in his life and his love, just as the gray years long since begun It seems I was much too enthralled of her then, but friend...the hearts of old seamen grow numb. ...just bein' Bluesy |

unrequited love is the worst! Even the suspicion that you love a person more than they love you is awful. You paint a pretty yet painful picture here. And as always, very well done. ~L |
