you can’t give what you’ve never known
she played hide and seek with his feelings
scaring others beyond any semblance of recognition
ached for those sweet wines of rare fruits
something she drempt of from her desk of pain
although she loved to sit in the rain
tossing fear in the air and catching it to embrace
only knowing the hand of moments, constricted
the intensity of knowing full well
how fragile life and our capabilities lean
towards unknown emotions, harvesting crops & dreams
dressed up in a hunger that never rests
sunlight’s purpose crying for summer's best
running circles around anxious thoughts
But she just can’t skip high enough over those stones of blood
which moved her dress towards senseless overtones
something she couldn’t give
something she’d never known
an external song, becomes her disease
sad how she never knew, illumination screams
yet grasped the long low sighs of trees
a crazy enthusiast was her pathetic soul
and all she drove down under that weighed emotional
to some lower class of physical activity
one from which she will never return or see
she is road rage running late on a Monday morning
leaving all who enter, kickboxing determination
into a room she’s designed with glue sticks and scotch tape

and still she plays a victim's beat

This line seems to be the sum of myriad parts of what reads like an abstract of streaming thoughts while behind the wheel of an automobile whose windshield is being pummeled by swarms of Mayflies and everyone else on the road is blaming you with an extended finger...
quote:
"she is road rage running late on a Monday morning"
...or not.

...just bein' Bluesy

This is very powerful writing. Maybe we all see a bit of our selves woven within the lines. The way you weaved words, LeeJ, was masterful. You made my morning!

WOW!
One must contemplate these fine words with a cup of hot coffee, and a slice of cheese cake.
Very nice writing LeeJ, as always.

I could read this over and over and never tire of the words or thoughts it brings to mind...

"and still she plays a victim's beat"

What a line to end this fabulos poem, which stands out among the rest. That is how what so many of us play.

The pause and then the final line. Wrapped up in a bow.
