Hey guys.... I think it's been years since I posted here. Need a little help... Could I call the lines below a haiku? Long lonely summers, In the barren lands of heart- Rain, her smile brings. Love, AT |

Well...hmmmm...I'm no expert but I think you probably could because you got the syllables right and the nature references. But to get real technical, I'd say no because I think each line has to be able to stand on its own and it has to be completely about nature. Poems with the same syllable pattern about anything else are called senyru. ~L |

Lori has it right. This is a Senryu. A Haiku is all about nature. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
