Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Like the squirrel
stocks up on food
to see him through
the hard winter.
I have been storing
affirmations in my heart
for the dark days ahead.
In the winter months
I am susceptible
to seasonal depression.
I’m gathering up laughter
and saving up smiles
now while I‘m feeling good.
Autumn gives me
a sense of anticipation.
I’m looking forward
to my favorite things.
So when the glum
comes lurking
on gloomy days,
I’ll be ready.

FANtastic write, Lori. That would be a wonderful thing to do. To be able to conjure up your saved happiness for gloomy days is a wondrous thing.

I admire your awareness, Lori Rhoden. With such wisdom, you won't fail to weather the season.

What the squirrel does, he (or she) does by instinct...we have to put a little thought into it. As a growing boy in an urban neighborhood, for example, I learned it was a lot safer to walk to school wearing an 'athletic cup'. Like the squirrel, I wanted to save mine too. Hmm.

You have the right idea Lori. Gotta get me some of that for the hump day blues.

Blues, I had a grumpy hump day myself. Kids were really on my nerves! But I did not lose my cool.
