Were you aware that the Japanese have created islands of solar panels? I applaud their ingenuity. But it makes me wonder. . . Why didn’t we think of that? Maybe we did and it is tied up in red tape. Why aren’t we doing it now? Why aren’t we leading in this technology? Even this country bumpkin gets ideas about solar and wind energy and I want to ask someone, I have no idea who, “have you thought of this. . . ?” But I sit silently assuming someone smarter than me with a degree, already thinked what I thought a long time ago. And said to himself, “That’s stupid, no.” LGR©10/15/17 |

Solar is costly and takes a long time to pay for itself. In some areas, it can be subsidized, but it still costs a lot (batteries, inverter...etc). Wind power is less than solar, but unless you're willing to live with a minimum of demand, I'd stay on the 'grid' and have a 6500-watt (or larger) gas generator for periods of power loss. Store 10-20 gallons of treated gas and keep your vehicles topped off. ...just bein' Bluesy |

of course it is costly, it is all too new. The more time and energy we invest in it the more the price will drop. But in the mean you give advice that is well heeded. ~L |

Lori Lou...No question is a stupid question if you vie for the truth I read some about solar and I had came to the conclusion that Bluesy stated...BUT who knows what will come to be down the road...Technology is ever changing ~ Alana |
