Soup is something you can eat
all year round,
we do it all the time.
But it is in the fall
that we have our soup suppers
and our chili feeds.
Vegetable soup is autumn colored.
The chili is red as sumac and red maples.
Autumn is a soup of leaves and frost
that swirl around on the season’s wind.
It makes us seek out our cozy and comfy’s
so Autumn’s soup won’t make us shudder.
We crave our hot Autumn soups to warm us inside,
served up with sweet breads and butter.

Eh . . .Chicken and dumpling was a favorite meal in winter. Soup, of course, but chicken and dumpling was by far our favorite meal.

Do it! I'll be thinking about you chowing down on some good old Chickin' & Dumplings.
