Ignorant Of The Years Chronologically. . . yeah, I'm getting a little farther along than I want to be, like - how long are the parts going to continue working? I mean, think about it: I've been peeing for three-quarters of a century! That's a long time for any kind of pipe to continue to work, especially with as little maintenance as I've given the system. Psychologically . . . with a big emphasis on the Psycho part, I live somewhere – depending on the day, between 15 and 35 years of age. And I've noticed something funny going on as each year passed. Mirrors, to my amazement, are disappearing! And all these pictures of some gray-haired, balding, old-man, are being hung where mirrors would normally be. I don't get it. Who is he? What's so important about him that his image should be everywhere I look? I mean, I'm so much better looking than him, and the virility in my smile just shines. So where do I send my picture with the suggestion they use it, rather than the old man's in all the places mirrors should me. Besides . . . I'm so much younger and would just as soon see pictures of me . . . rather than those of him.

"Mirrors, to my amazement, are disappearing!" Love this, Jimmy. We never take the person we see in the mirror out with us when we go outside. that's as good a reason for them disappearing as any I would think. I work side by side with a bunch of 20 something's. They all know I'm older but rarely believe me when I tell them by how much because I keep up with them all. The price I pay these days for such an effort is much stiffer than the ones I paid in my youth. The body is meant to break down on us. I know my time in a physical field of work is numbered, and I know I've put mine through too much to have a good time of it once I'm done. Even so, I will pass this life with my chin up. The earth can take my body back but it can never claim my soul. Michael |

Jimmy...You aren't the only one getting older, we all are but I refuse to let it get me down, I have good health and as long as the good Lord wants me to keep on sucking air that's all that matters. After all we could get a little work done and look 30 years younger. Ha Ha...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

Enjoyed this. I'm still trying to figure out who put the white in my hair! I can't figure out if the mirrors lie a little or not. I think feeling young is good for you to a point. "How much is real? So much to question |

Jimmy, You say it so well! Take heart! You have aged good and well and are easy to behold. Don't be to hard on the old guy as his wit and wisdom are impressive. You may catch a glimpse of it if you look deep in his eyes.~L |

At first I had to laugh because it is so true...and I know well the feelings...you capture truth with words to make one smile and say "yes" the mirrors lie...thank you |

Starmcneil 1955 - mine does that at times too. Have found if after submitting , 'reload the page' if your piece doesn't show up. Why this happens I don't know but it's been doing it for years. For me to reload, I just do a right click on the page and in the window that opens I click on the 'forward circle arrow' icon which reloads the page. Then what I wrote shows up where it should. Thanks for the read and the reply j. |

yann - or they can be your best of friends allowing you to say anything, cry, yell and more, at them - without talking back or taking offense. At times, even be your only friend. Thanks for dropping in . . . ![]() j. |

Michael - I think you plow your rows to deep, my friend, making it hard for you to surface high enough to feel the sun on your face, and see the stars at night. I've been most of "your" places, if not all and eventually I've put them where they belong . . . in the past, never forgotten, but stoically in their place, while I move on. And I've been ' replaced ' a couple of times in the job market by 'newly hatched' college types, even tho I taught them how to do the job. I'm older, more of an insurance risk, so on and so forth . . . Two well worn words say it all, in my opinion, and I have made it plain verbally, loudly a couple of times - guess what they are?? Anyway, thanks for the read and also the comments no matter how deep they come from. Please don't take anything above, negatively, it's definitely not meant that way. ![]() jimmy |
