Passage at Copper Creek~

There is a time tunnel that spans Copper Creek,
an old covered bridge hums in the wind,
inner wall graffiti speaks braille-beatitude's,
expletives try to shout,
but droop in peeling paint,
marriage proposals loom large
inside earnest lop-sided hearts,
lipstick prints faded in the rain,
remnants of lovers..who whispered lovely lust,
Forever & a day gouged in wood.

Past-echos haunt the south end,
clip-clop of horse's hooves,
a means to an end,
wagon gone to town,
home before dark.

A trace of Future
hovers high in a corner nest
waiting for the wasps of Summer.

The Present stands in the middle,
admiring art in motion,
that seeps from floorboard cracks
upward to heavy trusses,
created by sun and creek,
soothing, wavy elusive reflections
in dappled brush-strokes,
it holds one there..in the Dusty Heart
of the bridge,
a portal perhaps..
to this passage in memory,
moments of rippled time.

You paint very beautifully.  You truly brought this to life with vivid detail.  the pull of it can be felt.  I wonder if I could leave such a place.

Michael, I visited a covered bridge once..
& yes,I didn't want to leave either, so peaceful..& this is what I took away from it..had an aura all its own.

Thanks my friend..

I have always wanted to see one of these bridges. Your images grab and form a photo in my mind. Lovely.

Yann, I couldn't ask for anything better..
if a Poem can 'talk' to the reader.

Thank you..

I love places like these, maybe slightly tired and dilapidated but with the power evoke memories and transport you to a different time. Lovely writing.

Thank you Mz, Places like this always take me day-dreaming, & sometimes with the inklings for a write.
