The Rock

From the sea bed rises a throne.
Here at the top I sit, alone.
A distant ship, society,
I watch as she passes by me.

My devout plane, all stock and lore,
How could I wish for something more
Than crashing waves, the wind’s cold moan;
The truest loves I’ve ever known?

Time and again they’ve touched my skin,
Yet they never seem to soak in.
Feelings such contact should preempt
Somehow are lost to the attempt.

And yet a rock so near the shore
I guess these waters can’t ignore.
My edges they’ve slowly wore down,
While bleeding me of the renown.

Buoys surround me, nothing new,
For lives, oh yes, I’ve wrecked a few.
If the soft warning doesn’t shake you,
I’ll then tempt you, I will break you.

The passion pulsing in my veins,
Bringing the skin taut as a chain.
No chance to run, desire, greed
Not to be tamed, I’ll feed you Need!

Just don’t come as a passing wave
Try ‘smooth this stone become my grave.
No, bring a chisel, mark me deep,
An etching I’ll forever keep.

Should morning’s light still find you here,
Eye to eye, then you’ll see it clear.
Permanence is the stance I lay,
I won’t vanish, you'll just drift away.

"No, bring a chisel, mark me deep,..."

THIS, and so many other lines nearly choked me up.  I may be off on my interpretations, but either way I'm enjoying.  Feel free to correct me.  I can take it. 🙂

This thing has a mouth and strong teeth!

Thank you Lori, I honestly wanted to name it anything else but settled for "the Rock" feeling like a was placing a cliche pinata in place for a beat down.  you win!

Temptress, I must say had a most impressionable image pop into mind at the thought of *correcting you.  I won't go into detail I guess... would probably get banned.  Especially if teeth are involved.     So far as interpretations?  I doubt someone as intuitive as you gets it wrong very often.

I think cliche pinata sounds like a great party game! There is Lori,  you, and me. We need more players. 😉

Well, it probably isn't "Open" appropriate but.. I'd say if we weren't banned due to shenanigans in Mature Content a long long time ago, it probably wouldn't happen. It's been so long I can't remember the cursing guidelines.  It's time for a trip to the rules page for a refresher.  I'm running out of stored "Open Appropriate" work. I just haven't been ummm..brave enough to "travel" yet. 🤣

My intuition rarely fails me, but my will to listen to it has. 😊

Knowing better and doing it anyway makes it twice as fun!

Michael,

That definitely seemed to be my inner motto for a while.  It may still be. I already made the trip Behind Closed Doors. It's a bit of a shocker with language though. It was necessary for cathartic reasons in its original home elsewhere.

I think you are one of the few who used the mature content forums the way they were intended.  Never spent much time in Behind Closed Doors myself.  Honestly I would encourage you to just write your mind, then maybe think on what forum it might fit... I'm a big fan of genuine.
