My Christmas Bell-Ringer~

I have a Christmas ghost
who chimes the doorbell
randomly,
who might it be that wants
in from the cold
and startles me..

Whether mischief or message
be its purpose, I do not know,
I've grown accustomed to answering,
seeing nothing but new fallen snow.

No footprints or tire tracks
to leave me a clue,
and I've changed the batteries
countless times, what else might I do..

Next time I hear the bell,
with joyful spirit
I'll call "Come In..
no need to haunt outside my door,
rest your weary finger,
and have a cup of gin".

©Augustsky

I don't know much about doorbells,
but mine seems to take on a life of its own lol,
it's a mystery to me.

Gots to giggle at this.  Methinks it might be something fey.  If the gin doesn't work, I hear they are prone to having a sweet-tooth.

The fey things in my house are more pranksters...prone to the displacement of much needed objects at the most inopportune times, only to have them reappear months later after all need of them is no longer warranted. Always done in trade, they return something every time they take something...makes the pattern of randomness to it seem anything but random.

Sky,
Lacking footprints is key here. I'd like to think it is more than malfunction because you are such a sensitive soul. A special calling to one such as yourself would not be out of order. Perhaps it is your Muse inviting you to inspiration. Yes, by all means, invite them in. ~L
