Drones Down the escalator, Face remarkably calm. She’s found the means to sate her Fits comfortably in palm. She walks by unobserved, By him, lost to a stare. His reality served By something else not there. “Likes” become a crusade. Games take away the pain. The digital Band-Aids But a compulsive strain. Think Alice had it right In truth we’re all just clones. Walking, driving, day and night, We can’t set down our phones. Free to be someone else You truly want to be It’s easy to lose self In this world of make-believe With everything you see The product of you clicks, In what amounts to be A zombie apocalypse. Your own customized news, Designed solely to pique. They optimize your views, If needed, give a tweak. Just so long as their own Finds your unconscious mind, And your dollars are thrown Unto their corporate grind. Being driven like drones, Whose need is it we fill? In our own worlds, alone, Believing it our will. You’ll never think about it, The distraction too much. ‘Sides, you can’t live without it. Who needs a human touch? Right on Target! Michael It's said people don't Look Up anymore, not even to do some old fashioned star-gazing. Guess I'm obsolete.. Enjoyed this bit of truth-telling Sky~ Autumn.. |

Thank you all for the kind replies. Sky, I wrote a Stargazer poem once...right along the lines about what you just said. People no longer looking up. maybe I'll dig it out for you. Michael |
