Perspective Why only when in the desert Will I look to the sky? Does baleful ignorance and hurt Such action justify? Consciously seeking shadow—doubt, (Thine own self vilify), Have I walked this world elbows out, Likely will till I die. From birth feeling jaded—different, Wrapped myself in a shroud, Using darkness to circumvent All not spoken aloud. Preventative measure I thought, If to give pause to scorn. Yet somewhere in that black was wrought That which could not be born. Reflective bias not withstood, Ever lay down the curse. A myriad misunderstood Pleas dying with each verse. Biting the hands that reach to me, Lost 'the menagerie. A flower adrift on the sea Of all I'll never be. Oh the perspective is not lost, Nor will ever the yearn Be cast aside to weigh the cost Of soul ever in burn. The eyes may plead of dire need, Yet still may never raise To look in yours 'fore time obscures The chance to wasted days. Michael Anderson |
