Track Marks

...And so the withdrawals begin,
The sweats, the shakes… madness sets in.
You pulled the plug—you drew the line,
Why won’t the flippin' stars align?

You couldn’t take another lie,
Though it All was for such a time.
But now the silence digs at you,
It’s this you recognize as true.

You can’t move on, you can’t sit still.
You’re not sure that you have the will
To make this change you know you need:
Cut out the cancer, let it bleed.

In time you’ll see just what you are.
Forever will perfect the scar,
As you hold sacred the marred skin—
Trace the history of your sin.
