For Two in Love

Oh muted horn cut through the dark
a new day forms from the subtlest spark
out here between raindrops it’s only her and I tonight

Hum of low spoken words fall away
hue is broken and we’re awash in grey
and old Tracy and Hepburn movies set our eyes alight

That old devil moon
made for two in love
half-remembered Gershwin tunes
and a waltz in step with all the stars above
let’s lose our way counting each and every one
as if they were there for us two in love

Sweet, succulent musk of Paris in the fall
sunset is a sketch of an eagerly awaited phone call
and for us there's a world to explore from now till the dawn

The magic is still there
made for two in love
there is romance and Coltrane in the air
I look into your eyes and it’s all I’ve dreamed of
let’s say to each other all that can’t be said
these words are meant for two in love

Oh muted horn the tempo falls
the aged night hollers out last call
out here in sacred moments it’s only her and I tonight

"Somewhere in a burst of glory, sound becomes a song" - Paul Simon
