Saluting with misty eyes

0 posted 2019-09-11 10:34 AM

I was there, my child
When your loved one needed me
In their moment of pain
When their world was crashing down
All around them
When the panic was in their eyes
Their hearts beating with fright
I stood there beside them
Carrying them through their anguish
They were not alone on that morning
Perhaps they saw me there
Holding their hands in mine
Maybe they didn't know I was near
Feeling I had abandoned them
Just when they needed my love most
Fear not, while you weep
I did not forget them
For I held them all in my arms
Those that knew Those that wouldn't know
And I held them safe within my heart
As I carried them Home

It's been a few years since I posted; however, for a few reasons, this 9/11 holds meaning, so I decided to repost this.

Ringo...Very well done my friend. It sure has been awhile since you posted, like a lot of us we all have slowed down...Paul

I remember when I was new here and I asked someone to explain free verse to me and Serenity told you to explain it to me. LOL

Wow...beautifully written.  I never assume to know the perspective of an author, but in reading this the words "I will never leave you nor forsake you" resound in my head.
