There should have been a time for us Who gaze at distant stars- Or specks on the horizon And wonder what they are. For those of us who go and see Life's sorrow and it's smiles And leave their tracks upon uncharted- Plains, which stretch for miles. There should have been a time; when we- Who hear the distant drum- Which calls us to adventure And bids us rise, and "Come!"- Were recognized for what we are The conscience of our age- Who grasp the meaning of our world And write it on a page- Our warnings, like Cassandra's- Will all unheeded be- Till others rise to take the place Of bards like you and me. And so it is and so it goes- All dreamers seem to fail- For I have written, you have read Thus goes the Traveler's tale. |
