30 December 2015

In sorrow’s blackest nights
and fragile frayed despair
brave smiles light up the dark
like flowers in winter’s care.

In joy and sunshine bright
you’d not know these gems were there.
Their sparkle would be hidden,
outshone in blue-sky air.

As my Princess sits in meditation-
She's dreaming up a new creation-
Knowing not her words are balm,
To bring this cowboys heart some calm.

Write on, lass, I need the peace-
Which gives a warriors heart some ease.
Although we are a world apart...
Your words find lodging in my heart.

Oh, how absolutely exquisite, John.  Thank you!  Now you have made, not just my evening, but my week!  I am very happy that it brought your cowboy heart some calm and happiness.

I can't top John's response (nor do either of you want me to do so); but, dear Owly one, your poem is like a velvet painting wrapping my mind with whispered beauty.

Don't relate to a lot of what you write, it's true, but I have witnessed a smile lighting up the dark before...and seen things cherished in darkness that are taken for granted by so many others who don't even realize they have it.  Even if it's just glimpses, they are precious.

Wow, Michael!  I am very glad that you have seen a smile lighting up the dark and seen those precious things that some don't notice, even if only just glimpses.

Beautiful. Diana. Certainly worthy of John's reply.
