Emotions are a burden, a detriment, I find. That tend to cloud our judgment and occupy our mind. Relying on his feelings, will drive a man insane. Despite his good intentions, his efforts are in vain. Reason, on the other hand, has its own cross to bear. He who tends to trust in reason, expects life to be fair. Reality is more like this… some days it rains “rain”- On other days, you’ll sadly find, that life brings other things. Things like disappointment, things like mental pain. Things like finding out, my friend, best efforts are in vain. The shock we feel when we find out, that love is just a joke- To tantalize emotions and leave us sad and broke. What’s the answer? I suppose… you simplify your life. Junk those worthless feelings, for your children, or a wife. Avoid all close relationships, keep others at arms-length. You’ll find your choices lonely, but it yields a type of strength. |

Very well written, John. Sorrow, humiliation, and kicks in the teeth are the price I have always been prepared to pay for the irrepressible joy and elation that feelings bring with them. When things go wrong, after I have paid the price, as Frank Sinatra advises, I pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again! There is a strength in that too. Smiles. |
