When the rose of romance withers, And the heart is sere and dry- And you gaze upon the wreckage- Of your life and wonder why… How what was once a thing of beauty- Is now a desert harsh and bare, And you search for lost emotions, And no longer find them there… When that love you thought eternal- Has spread its wings and gone- And you find the “road less traveled, Is the one you walk alone. “Why?” Eternal question that! So weak, and so forlorn- It makes a person wish that they- Never had been born. The loneliness consumes you- And you cannot even weep, And you find yourself oft praying, That Death comes in your sleep. But the rose of love blooms early- When the future looks so bright. But you find it disappearing- As you enter twilights night. |

Thank you, Diana, but I think my quest is over. I'm content to go alone. |

John...You write of lost love so tenderly but also so real. My heart aches for you my friend, May you again find a rose to love again...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |
