Darkness laced with fog
surrounds the old, warped pier
The waning moon casts its pale glow
...as ghostly tendrils
Soggy, wintry air envelopes a solitary,
lotus leaf form

Loneliness, an old companion,
will visit her again
Slowly, she rows upon forgotten waters,
making her way toward the pier
The ebbing tides evoke no contentment,
only forlorn resentment

The pier will offer her no refuge
this cold, frigid night
Distant shores of fulfillment
are again beyond her reach
Sighing, she makes room
upon her heart for another

The oarlocks groan as if in great sorrow
with each struggling stroke
The fog-faded pier slips away once more,
consumed by the darkness
As does she, who fades away within it
only to return once more

...in the ‘morrow

Bluesy,

    "Sighing, she makes room
     upon her heart for another."

This line stands out in the darkness. ~L
