Fair to middlin' of nowhere

I received a bottle of lotion for Christmas
from Bath & Body works
called Comfort Vanilla + Patchouli,
from their Aromatherapy collection.
It is my new favorite scent.
I had my doubts
when I read the label.
I love Vanilla,
but I’m not Patchouli’s biggest fan.
It had me at first whiff.
It is the last thing I do
before I leave the house in the morning,
and the last before I go to bed at night.
The aroma is sweet, gentle and light.
I rubbed some in
just to get ready to write.
Inhaling deeply,
focused on what first came to mind.
I was blown away with what my thoughts
came to find.
My baby face on Daddy’s shoulder,
nose at his neck.
Being carried under a cover,
and to where was of no matter.
The rush of comfort was amazing.
However, that was not the image I was expecting.
I was thinking perhaps fields of Tulips and Iris,
not a golden memory such as this.
I was taken back as far as I can remember,
to the simplest of times.
I was warm and content,
secure in a familiar grip and scent.
That thought was very telling.
Maybe to me, more than you.
My gratitude is enormous at this moment.
I wouldn’t give anything for it.
Who would have ever had the notion
that something like this
could come from a simple bottle of lotion.

They don't call it "therapy" for nothing, Miss Lori.

I like the way you think, Miss Lori.
I like how you liberate yourself in your poetry.

To me, it all makes scents...
Why do I feel you knew someone would say that? I guess your nose knows...(Eww! Make me stop!)

L. And those golden-memories can be the Dearest. This piece had that special touch
of home with love at the forefront.

Well done Poetess..

Lori - A song can bring back a forgotten intimate moment. A taste can resurrect a lost sweet memory and a smell can restore a banquet of smiles from long, long ago. Aromatherapy.....you've made me a believer Lori. Namyh

Namyh,
Made a believer out of both of us! I knew scent was a powerful stimuli, but that just blew me away. Makes me wonder how often we are affected by smell and don't even realize it... ~L

Whiff-o-Pink,

Glad you liked this one. I need to print off a copy for my Dad. I think he'll like it too.
