A Deck of Cards

There’s Chess and Checkers, Parcheesi and Bingo, Monopoly and games galore
but imbedded, ingrained in a deck of cards is immersed the Wisdom of yore.
The Heart is the Animal Kingdom, the Club the Kingdom of Plants.
The Diamond reigns over the Minerals and the Spade has Metal stance.

They are elements of Fire and Air and those of Water and Earth
from the Valley of Kings on the banks of the Nile at the time of Egypt’s birth.
The King and Queen and Jack together are the Trinity we hold so dear.
Twelve like these in a deck of cards are the months contained in a year.

In Winter and Fall dress warm. In Summer and Spring dress loose
but it’s not coincidence that these 4 seasons are also the deck’s 4 suits.
With the Jack as eleven, the Queen as twelve, the King as thirteen once more
when added to the cards from one to ten equals three hundred and sixty-four
and the jokers are 1 making 365 and this we’ll handle with care.
In a mere deck of cards, it’s the number of days on Earth we find in a year.

But honored and counted in a single deck are 13 cards in each suit
for the times around the planet that the Moon makes its yearly pursuit.
A deck’s 52 cards, a year’s 52 weeks share a number that each one agrees
is equal to the incline of the Great Pyramid which slopes at 52 degrees.
And the Pyramid’s height times a billion will stack up like cards each one
for 93 million miles thru Space or the distance of Earth to the Sun.
