It was an unexpected surprise. I heard my mother’s laugh today Something about my older brother’s gray beard tickled her. She spoke. In a dry raspy voice she struggled the words as best she could. He seemed to understand. Then she laughed, and for a moment the clock turned back to before things changed. My heart leapt. Understanding more now, how much of her still lingers. LGR(C)5/13/18 |
