You once would whisper to me, my fluid lover
so softly, of the waves that made you

Now though, your voice has become vacant,
only odd impurities resonate from your deeply drilled cavities

While you ruminate quietly supporting soiled toiletries and such,
I see that your beauty has grown somewhat stagnate and odoriferous

Many miles away, through beds of kelp and polished sea-stone,
another voice washes ashore mimicking the majesty that once was yours

It now resonates methodically through the water of our cities pipes,
flowing malevolently into the sinks of those that can’t refuse it…

A well written and intuitive write by Allen Roberts and Doris Fisher. The title gives us an insight on what the poem is about before we read one line of it. I liked this a lot.

Thanks, Jerry. The title was theirs, the poetry is my own.
It's intended as an environmental statement.

Thanks again!

Even though I missed what the poem was about, I still enjoyed reading it.

Don't give it another thought, Jerry.
It's just me talking to water.
I couldn't expect anyone to know that.

Ahh . . . Hell, after the first two lines I should have grasped the situation.

I thought this was about the ocean and water pollution and stuff but I read Jerry's reply and got confused and thought I got it wrong.

So, now I know I was on the right track...
Good job you sea hugger you! I like your sense of social consciousness and the gifted way you express it. ~L

Ha-ha-ha! "Sea-Hugger!"...I like that!

You know, Miss Lori, it's said in these parts that I've a bear hug that could squeeze the sap from a Maple tree!

Nah! That's a lie!

Thanks so much, m'dear!
