Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Almost bought a pack of smokes today.
I was just in that kind of mood.
Could have fallen hard for a Krispy Kreme.
Drove straight past McDonalds
and home to a scrumptious bottle of water.
I guess I should have been feeling
proud of myself,
but I wasn’t.
I was too consumed with cravings
to feel anything but deprived.
Not too happy with the nature
of my beast,
it is a buzzkill to my awesomeness
as I feel sorry for myself.
No retrospects allowed
from this state of mind.

This is a profound statement, Miss Lori.
It applies to so many things we deny ourselves
or that others deprive us of.
