They say that justice is blind, I say it’s a state of mind. A blindfold over justice's eyes, So she cannot see the lies. If we are poor and without, In a court of law we've no clout. Wouldn't it be best if she Remove the blind so she could see? So then she might be very sure, To find justice honest and pure. ©April 12, 2018 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

quote:You're quite right, Jerry. It is a 'state of mind'. I see the blindfold as an intended symbol of equality. I know, as most do, that justice is not always fair, but the concept is that it is fair because, with the blindfold on, it can't see our color, our clothing or our perceived station in life...only what is heard in a court of law. Yes, it doesn't always work out fairly. The sentences don't always fit the crime. Some are excessive and some are too lenient. Then there's those dangling scales to consider. Thanks for a stimulating post, Jerry. ...just bein' Bluesy |

Damn, Blusey, talk about stimulating, this response is that in spades. You made excellent points. II suppose, like the weather, we can talk about the court of law util we're blue n the face with not very much being done about it. Sure, we have come a long way in establishing fairness in our court system . . . maybe some day . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
